Suzy Davies, regional Assembly Member for South Wales West, has welcomed the launch of Age Cymru West Glamorgan.

The new charity, launched on 3rd April 2019, sees the merger of local charities Age Cymru Swansea Bay and Age Cymru Afan Nedd.

The move brings together two well-respected teams of men and women who have been supporting older people and their families in their homes and communities for many years.

Mrs Davies, Welsh Conservative AM for the region, said: “The merger of these two excellent hard working charities into one force for the area is something I welcome.

“By covering Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, and Bridgend, they are effectively now covering the whole of the region of South Wales West.

“It is reassuring to know that a service like this is available across the region to help older people in a variety of ways.”

With many older people and their carers benefiting from the valuable services that the two charities provided, the merger aims to allow Age Cymru West Glamorgan to pool its expertise, resources and teams to create one unified, skills-rich organisation for Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend.

Craig Lawton, Chair of Age Cymru West Glamorgan, said: “I would like to thank all the staff and volunteers from across the two charities for all their hard work and commitment.

“Without them this merger would not be possible.

“I am really excited about the opportunity this merger presents as it means we can now help older people, their carers and their families from across the whole of the region.”

Their three main areas of support for over 50s and their carers will continue.

This means Age Cymru West Glamorgan’s Homecare+ service will continue to visit people in their homes, to deliver cleaning, food preparation, gardening and home maintenance/handyman help. The charity’s free Information and Advice service will carry on supporting thousands of people with things like benefits, financial planning and housing queries, and their Afan Nedd centre, at Riverside Walk in Port Talbot will continue to welcome visitors for the lunch club, chiropody and hairdressing service, special events, legal and financial planning surgeries.

Mae Suzy Davies, Aelod Cynulliad rhanbarthol Gorllewin De Cymru, wedi croesawu lansiad Age Cymru Gorllewin Morgannwg.

Mae'r elusen newydd, a lansiwyd ar 3 Ebrill 2019, yn gweld elusennau lleol Age Cymru Bae Abertawe ac Age Cymru Afan Nedd yn uno.

Mae'r symudiad yn dod â dau dîm o ddynion a merched uchel eu parch at ei gilydd sydd wedi bod yn cefnogi pobl hŷn a'u teuluoedd yn eu cartrefi a'u cymunedau ers blynyddoedd lawer.

Dywedodd Mrs Davies, AC Ceidwadwyr Cymreig dros y rhanbarth: “Mae uno'r ddwy elusen ardderchog hyn yn un dda ar gyfer yr ardal yn rhywbeth yr wyf yn ei groesawu.

“Drwy gwmpasu Abertawe, Castell-nedd Port Talbot a Phen-y-bont ar Ogwr, maen nhw bellach yn cwmpasu ardal Gorllewin De Cymru gyfan.

“Mae'n galonogol gwybod bod gwasanaeth fel hwn ar gael ledled y rhanbarth i helpu pobl hŷn mewn amrywiaeth o ffyrdd.”

Gyda llawer o bobl hŷn a'u gofalwyr yn elwa ar y gwasanaethau gwerthfawr a ddarparwyd gan y ddwy elusen, nod yr uno yw caniatáu i Age Cymru Gorllewin Morgannwg gronni ei arbenigedd, ei adnoddau a'i dimau i greu un sefydliad unedig, cyfoethog o ran sgiliau ar gyfer Abertawe, Castell-nedd Port Talbot a Phen-y-bont ar Ogwr.

Dywedodd Craig Lawton, Cadeirydd Age Cymru Gorllewin Morgannwg: “Hoffwn ddiolch i'r holl staff a gwirfoddolwyr ar draws y ddwy elusen am eu holl waith caled a'u hymrwymiad.

“Hebddynt ni fyddai'r uno hwn yn bosibl.

“Rwy'n gyffrous iawn am y cyfle y mae'r uno hwn yn ei gyflwyno gan ei fod yn golygu y gallwn nawr helpu pobl hŷn, eu gofalwyr a'u teuluoedd o bob rhan o'r rhanbarth.”

Bydd eu tri phrif faes cymorth i bobl dros 50 oed a'u gofalwyr yn parhau.

Mae hyn yn golygu y bydd gwasanaeth Gofal Cartref + Age Cymru Gorllewin Morgannwg yn parhau i ymweld â phobl yn eu cartrefi, i ddarparu gwaith glanhau, paratoi bwyd, garddio a chymorth cartref / help llaw. Bydd gwasanaeth Gwybodaeth a Chyngor am ddim yr elusen yn parhau i gefnogi miloedd o bobl sydd â phethau fel budd-daliadau, cynllunio ariannol ac ymholiadau tai, a bydd eu canolfan Afan Nedd, yn Riverside Walk ym Mhort Talbot yn parhau i groesawu ymwelwyr ar gyfer y clwb cinio, trin traed a thrin gwallt gwasanaeth, digwyddiadau arbennig, cynllunio cyfreithiol a chynllunio ariannol.
