Christmas Card Competition Winner announced | Enillydd Cystadleuaeth Nadolig wedi’i cyhoeddi

PUPILS from schools across South Wales West have entered a competition organised by Regional AM Suzy Davies.

Welsh Conservative Suzy asked children to design her official Christmas card this year on a theme of Unity.

Mrs Davies said she was delighted with the entries that she received. She said: “I am always surprised at the imaginative way in which children interpret the themes that are set. This time, the theme of Unity seems to have struck a real chord as children interpreted this against the backdrop of the Christmas story with its message of peace and harmony.

“Choosing the winner and runners up called for the wisdom of Solomon but in the end I was able to choose them and the winning design has been printed as my official Christmas card which is now going out to organisations and individuals throughout South Wales West and beyond.

“The high standard of entry was a tribute not only to the talents of the individual pupils  involved but also to their schools and their teachers who set about organising these entries at a time of year when so many other things are demanding time and attention. I thank them all.”

The overall winner was Abigail Fluck of Dwr y Felin School, in Neath with runners up Kali Tranter of Ysgol y Ferch o’r Sger, Cornelly, and Alina Griffiths of Creunant Primary School in Crynant.

Mae disgyblion o ysgolion ledled Gorllewin De Cymru wedi cystadlu mewn cystadleuaeth a drefnwyd gan yr AC Rhanbarthol Suzy Davies.

Gofynnodd Suzy, sy’n Aeold Ceidwadol, i blant ddylunio ei cherdyn Nadolig swyddogol eleni ar thema Undod.

Dywedodd Mrs Davies ei bod wrth ei bodd gyda'r ceisiadau a dderbyniodd. Meddai: “Rwyf bob amser yn synnu at y ffordd ddychmygus y mae plant yn dehongli'r themâu a osodir. Y tro hwn, ymddengys bod thema Undod wedi taro tant go iawn wrth i blant ddehongli hyn yn erbyn cefndir stori'r Nadolig gyda'i neges o heddwch a chytgord.

“Roedd dewis yr enillydd a’r ail orau yn galw am ddoethineb Solomon ond yn y diwedd roeddwn i’n gallu eu dewis ac mae’r dyluniad buddugol wedi’i argraffu fel fy ngherdyn Nadolig swyddogol sydd bellach yn mynd allan i sefydliadau ac unigolion ledled Gorllewin De Cymru a thu hwnt .

“Roedd safon uchel y mynediad yn deyrnged nid yn unig i ddoniau’r disgyblion unigol dan sylw ond hefyd i’w hysgolion a’u hathrawon a aeth ati i drefnu’r cofnodion hyn ar adeg o’r flwyddyn pan mae cymaint o bethau eraill yn mynnu amser a sylw. Diolch iddyn nhw i gyd. ”

Yr enillydd cyffredinol oedd Abigail Fluck o Ysgol Dwr y Felin, yng Nghastell-nedd gyda'r ail orau Kali Tranter o Ysgol y Ferch ymgeisydd Sger, Cornelly, ac Alina Griffths o Ysgol Gynradd Creunant yng Nghynyn.
